Narrateo was founded as Invincible Films Ltd and began trading in 1995. Between 1995 and 2000, the company made over 150 hours of science-related television content for corporate clients and international broadcasters including Channel 4, BBC TV,  Discovery and National Geographic. In 1997 and again in 1999, the quality of the company's work was recognised with two Royal Television Society awards. A British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) nomination followed in 1999.

In 1998 Invincible Films was renamed Narrateo Limited, reflecting the storytelling foundations of its broadening scope of work. Since then, the company has managed the production of digital show content for the Digistar 3 immersive cinema system created by Evans and Sutherland Inc.
